A 2003 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy died after being stabbed with a steak knife Tuesday night at a College Park home.

James R. McMurtry, 24, of Annapolis, Md., was killed after arguing with a friend, Romel Renath Webb, 26, of College Park, said Clayton County police Lt. Jeff Turner. Webb is charged with murder and is held without bond in the county jail.

Turner said McMurtry and two friends visited Webb's College Park home on Sunday. Turner said Webb felt McMurtry was disrespectful during the visit and the conflict escalated Tuesday night when McMurtry asked Webb's sister-in-law to bring him a drink.

Webb became angry, hit McMurtry in the arm, pulled out a steak knife and stabbed McMurtry in the throat, Turner said. Bleeding profusely, McMurtry left the home and collapsed in the front yard, where he died. Webb fled but returned two hours later and was arrested.
