JUN 2005

ENS Greg Saxon and his wife LT Jill Saxon would like to announce the birth of their son Joel Benjamin on 2/12/05.  He was born at NNMC Bethesda at 1802, weighed 7lbs 7ozs and was 20 inches long.  The attached picture is Jill, Greg and Joel (7 weeks old).

Jon Lee-Warner, Jess Hill, and Eric Adler cheered on Johann Guzman as he crossed the finish line of Orlando's Disney World Marathon.  Jo Guzman ran as part of the Hometown Heroes Team sponsored by the Huntsman Cancer Society to raise money for breast cancer.  He and team raised over $45,000.  Running in the military division, Jo had the honor of carrying the American Flag accross the finish line to salute the troops.  Jon waited with Jo's Godmother (a breastcancer survivor), Eric, and Jess near the finish line and helped him finish strong.  Jo starts Nuclear Power School in June after graduating from the Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government.  Jess, a P3 pilot, is stationed in Jacksonville.  After completing his helo training in Jax, Eric will ship out to Japan.  Lastly, Jon will be with the helo RAG in San Diego until he departs for Guam in October.  Nothing made Jo more proud than to have his Shipmates at the finish line.

Greetings from cosmopolitan Milton, Florida. I have been in this amazing place since beginning Primary with VT-3 in January (along with Ed Fong '02), and I share a nine-acre estate out in the peanut and cotton fields north of Whiting Field with my legendary classmates Hector Ubinas, Mr. Vice-President Dan Emmert and Fernando Reyes.  Between the battles over what to record on TiVo and the constant gatherings to play HALO, Dan may actually start reading for fun.  I have continued my education by learning that there is a desperate need in Milton to abbreviate priorities like “All You Can Eat” as “AYCE” on the local restaurant signs that offer such healthy fare, and secondly, that the weather currently despises flight school.  All flight students have become rather creative at trying to occupy their time outside of studying since they have had to negotiate hurricanes, hailing thunderstorms, and most likely the inevitable invasion of killer bees.  As such, our house had a successful Turkey Fry a few weeks ago thanks to Dan's skills.  No one was injured in the cooking of the bird due to the ORM sheets we handed out prior to the event, and, in the true spirit of name-dropping, we had the honor of hosting local celebrities Hope Kelly (who, to clarify, finishes in July as 100% Navy), Rob Buck, Jake Schofield, James Cordonnier, Wes Yancey, Brian Bush, Andrew Burd, Justin Smith, Mike Pagaling, Kelly Nash, and Eric Olsson '02. And, yes, to end the threat of blackmail, it is true that Dave Myers '02, James, Hope, and I dressed as pilgrims and turkeys and ran the Pensacola 5K Turkey Trot in November.
In late April, a few 24th Company alums had a spontaneous mini-reunion, and the photo included is the crew who made the trip to good ole Bamboo Willie's to partake in  James Cordonnier's winging celebration: Mitch Grant is just about to finish with HT-8, Molly (Kane) Crabbe joined us while she's waiting to head to San Diego, Brad Monger drove in from Jacksonville, Chris Hobert (AKA Hoberticus Maximus) flew in from his SEAL Team in Virginia, Scottie Buerstatte came down from Meridian, and last but not least, Hector Ubinas, who should be done with HT-8 in August.  And just for good measure, Jason Knox, Emily du Pont, Mike Kingen and Bjorn Anderson found themselves in San Diego at the same time and joined in the festivities via satellite.  Eric Olsson '02 was again able to join in the fun, and I have also run into Mel Cooper, Pete Benning, Sergio Armas and Mitch Newton (all ‘04), so Two-Four has been well-represented.  On a side note, during the karaoke sendoff for James to mark his future assignment to Atsugi, Japan, Cordova Lanes in Pensacola was pleased to announce that Mitch Grant was crowned “Mr. Karaoke Saturday Night.”  His solo rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody will be talked about for years to come.

Congratulations again to everyone on our first two years.  - Lisa
